Password Rules
Password Rules define the constraints for user security passwords within TimeStar™. These rules are used only when a user is setup with an authentication type of TimeStar – Strong Passwords via the User Security page.
Password Length
Minimum password length |
Defines the minimum number of characters that a user’s password must be for TimeStar™. Set to zero to have no minimum password length. |
Maximum password length |
Defines the maximum number of characters that a user’s password must be for TimeStar™. Set to zero to have no maximum password length. |
Password Complexity
Minimum required upper-case characters |
Defines the minimum number of upper-case characters that must exist in the password. Set to zero to have no minimum. |
Minimum required lower-case characters |
Defines the minimum number of lower-case characters that must exist in the password. Set to zero to have no minimum. |
Minimum required numeric characters |
Defines the minimum number of numeric characters that must exist in the password. Set to zero to have no minimum. |
Minimum required special characters |
Defines the minimum number of special characters that must exist in the password. Set to zero to have no minimum. |
Minimum number of the above rules which must be met |
Defines the minimum number of requirements that must be met for the password to be saved. |
Password Locking
Failed attempts before lock |
Defines the number of times a user can attempt to login before the user’s account is locked. |
Minutes before login can be attempted again |
Defines the number of minutes before a user may attempt to login again. To require a TimeStar™ administrator to unlock the user’s account, set the minutes to zero. |
Password Expiration
Number of days before password expires |
Defines the number of days before a TimeStar™ password expires. |
Number of previous passwords which cannot be reused |
Defines the number of previous passwords which may not be reused. |
Number of days before a password can be reused |
Defines the number of days that must elapse before a password may be reused. |
User Defaults
Default Password |
Defines the default password for a new user when generated via Global Maintenance – User.
NOTE - The default password must meet all of the constraints set for password length and complexity. |
Default Authentication Method |
Defines the default authentication method when adding a new user via System – User Security or Global Maintenance – Users. |
Default Company |
Defines the default company when adding a new user via System – User Security or Global Maintenance – Users |
Default Security Group |
Defines the default security group when adding a new user via System – User Security or Global Maintenance- Users |
